The night before the people were to come and pack me up I got a phone call saying that they couldn’t come the next day and they would have to work on Saturday afternoon and Sunday. My condo doesn’t allow movers to come in on Sunday and do anything. So, they indicated they had found a moving group that could come on that Friday and Saturday. On Friday the people came in to pack everything up and all at once they indicated that they were with another moving company and I would have to pay for the new company to move me. I had already paid the first company 15K and for them to pack up would be another almost 15K. Since I had to move on that date since the new owner was coming in the following day I felt that I had to accept the new contract or my 2 bedroom, 2 bath condo wouldn’t get packed and I would be out the money that I would have to pay the new owners coming in. The main packer didn’t even ask me to sign a new contract until right before they left. They had to leave because the Condo was going to fine them $5K for extending the time to leave. So, I didn’t have any recourse but to sign the new contract. Then they stated that when the movers got to Virginia i would owe them another $3,700 (cash) and then another $3,700 because the truck couldn’t get into the area where my new house was located. I finally got everything paid and the truck was able to come into my new home. The men who brought my furniture and boxes in didn’t put anything together. My beds were torn apart, all my furniture was filthy dirty and none of the screws, etc. were here. Not all of my furniture arrived. No one can help me.

There are moving companies out there that will provide quality moving services which includes packing and unpacking. And sometimes, you may be able to find the best rate too.

Even if you feel you are getting a ‘luxury’ move or your move has a high price, you still need to check out the following things: their license if needed in your state, their rating on the BBB website, reviews on Yelp, Google, etc. and make sure they have worker’s comp. Otherwise you may be liable for any injuries.

By: tracey https://www.themovingblog.com/luxury-moving-services-highend/#comment-1048 Fri, 14 Jan 2011 15:53:27 +0000 #comment-1048 i recently had a classic “bad xperience”. i was told i was getting the companies best driver and i payed for it. the driver was o.k. and the help had bad attidtudes. to go with that an estimated $3,000 in claims. so when we moved my inlaws to fl i set up with another comp. and i asked them for a profile with cust. feedback on some of thier crews. i found, with a lil prying, what i would nominate best moving crew in america. the driver warren, who boasts ten yrs xperience, was in his late 20’s, very professional, articulate, and hott! he packed all the china very well, moved the grand piano better than the piano guys that brought it, and masterfully loaded his truck. i believe that since every local comp. cannot provide crews like that thier should b a website where local moving comp. can upload short virals of cust. testimonial, and thier cash cows in action. that way, thru a lil due diligence, i wouldnt have wasted my money on the first mover. this guy works out of DE, but if i was moving from brooklyn 2 boca, i would’ve payed whatever it took 2 get him up here!!!

I’m a person with a very poor income and i needed movers that could move me for a reasonable price. I have heard and read many stories about movers cheating and stealing the customers stuff. So in all truth i was very nervous about moving with any random moving company. Until my best friend Lizzy has recommended me Union of DC Movers. So i thought I’d give them a try, and i didn’t regret it. The salesperson was very understanding and sounded professional. He explained everything thoroughly to me and told me step-by-step about my upcoming move. On the day of the move they came on time and did everything on high class. The move only took two and a half hours and i only paid $226 for everything!! I’m a happy, satisfied, and a honored customer. If you need a professional, low-budget move then defiantly call Union of DC Movers.
Happy customer, Betty 🙂
