What is Move Advisor?

Moving Timeline by Move Advisor

Each self-explanatory icon in your mobile moving calendar hides additional relevant information which can be yours for the tapping.

Move Advisor is a new mobile moving application whose main purpose is to be your personal invaluable advisor through every stage of your upcoming relocation. In its essence, the moving planner app consists of four distinct powerful tools to help you become the great here in your own moving adventure:

Moving Timeline

Move Advisor is equipped with an advanced week-by-week moving timeline checklist that enlists all of the essential moving tasks you must complete before, during and after the relocation. To simplify things as much as possible, Moving Timeline actually customizes your chores depending on the exact date of the move and won’t overwhelm you by suggesting more jobs than you can handle effectively. All your moving tasks are displayed with the help of eye-catching large icons, and although the graphical representations of your work are entirely self-explanatory, you just need to tap a particular icon to read more relevant information about the selected task.

The best thing about the moving calendar tool is that it’s so much more than just a detailed to-do list. In reality, it gives you full control over the entire preparation process in terms of work to be done. With Move Advisor installed and running on your preferred mobile device, you are now the sole manager of your tasks – mark them as complete, delete them if you view them as inapplicable in your case, or set quick reminders to take care of them later.

What’s more, the moving planner checklist makes it even easier for you and lets you save time by introducing an ACTION button underneath particular tasks. Tap that button and get practical suggestions on how you can complete the job at hand more quickly than ever.

Home Inventory

Additionally, Move Advisor offers a home inventory tool which will not only turn the tedious process of inventorying your entire household into a piece of cake, but it will also let you have fun while doing it. Creating an exact digital copy of your home and all the household items in it has never been easier! Home Inventory comes with a great feature which calculates and summarizes the approximate volume and weight of the items you have inventoried so far in real time, thus making it possible for you to know in advance how many moving boxes you will need to pack up your earthly possessions, and what type of a moving truck to rent if you’re moving by yourself. When you feel ready with your house inventory list, you can quickly share that list with friends and even send it to yourself as a pro-active backup action. What’s best, however, is that you are given the convenient option of emailing your comprehensive home inventory to moving companies in order to receive accurate moving costs estimates.

Downtown San Franisco

Here is how the downtown of San Fran looks like.

San Francisco, California, is one of the most populous cities in the state (after LA, San Diego & San Jose) and in the country as well. It’s located at the north end of the San Francisco Peninsula. It has a population of about 850,000 people and is also known as the Paris of the West and the City of the Bay. There are a few islands that are also part of the city – Yerba Buena Island, Alcatraz, Treasure Island, and parts of Red Rock Island, Angel Island, and Alameda Island. There are more than 50 hills in the city, and many neighborhoods are named after the hill they are located on. And there are also many other interesting facts about the city, but we will name just a few to take you there and show you why it is worth considering relocating to San Francisco, CA.

Top 10 Reasons To Move To San Francisco

  1. Not all of it is foggy. San Francisco is also known as the Fog City and not without a reason. The fog is a typical feature of the city, it is called Karl, and it appears the least in the late summer and early fall when the temperatures reach their peak, and in the eastern neighborhoods. Actually, this is one of the things many people in San Francisco like. Logically, you can not expect many days with sunshine during which you can go to the beach to get some sun tan. It is also good to know that weather is not constant – it could be warm in the morning and it could get cool in the afternoon so always have your jacket with you when you go out.

    Russian Hill - San Francisco

Here’s how going down the Russian Hill will look like for you.

  2. It is a very beautiful place. Even with the fog. That is why one of its nicknames is “Paris of the West”. San Francisco is worth seeing and experiencing. There are many things to enjoy and that is why choosing how to spend a few days off from work could be a difficult task.
  3. You can ditch the high heels. Walking around the city hills could be tough with them so get comfy and put your marathon shoes on, so that you could really feel comfortable in the city.
  4. There are so many cultural events early that you wouldn’t believe. In other words, there is something for everyone here. Many people in San Francisco enjoy wearing costumes and often times when you go down the street you will wonder if this is how they usually dress or if it is a costume.
  5. If you have a dog, you will love San Francisco. And your dog will, too. There are parks in every neighborhood with dog-friendly areas.
  6. A healthy way of life is the easiest thing to do around here. There is a lot of healthy food that farmers’ markets offer. There are many restaurants in the city and many of them offer healthy food. There are a lot of sports clubs which you could join and many people do it. So, being fit is the easiest thing you could do in SF.
  7. Do you like yoga? After it became popular with the New Age movement still many places are open and work. Even Terminal Two of the San Francisco International Airport will offer you a special yoga room so you won’t have to interrupt your practice while on the road. Cool, isn’t it?
  8. Being a bicyclist has never bean easier. With lots of bike lanes and bike parking areas, you will soon find out that cars, buses and metro are not always the fastest way to move around the city. Not to mention their impact on the environment and on people’s health.
  9. Wine is typical of the culture of Northern California, so you may find out that one glass of wine daily may fit you perfectly as well.
  10. People in San Francisco are friendly, they like their city and are proud of it. So who knows – you could soon also be one proud citizen of the Fog City as well.

Moving during the week or weekendMoving is both an exciting and stressful experience for many reasons, one of the main ones being the long list of things to do from the decision you take to move until the first day in your new home. Should you move during the week or in the weekend? Which is better, cheaper, more convenient and easier? Both moving during the week and in the weekend have their pros and cons which we will discuss below. Relocating at the time that is most convenient to you is important so let’s take a look at what those two options may offer.

Is It Cheaper to Move During the Week?

If we are talking only moneywise, there could be a difference between moving during the week and moving in one weekend. Since weekends is the time when most people choose to move, movers are busier and costs for your relocation could be higher. This means that you may find it harder to get to reliable weekend movers or weekend moving truck deals quickly as good deals and offers are taken away fast, especially in summer and during the first and last weekends of a month which is the busiest time for moving companies. The same goes true even stronger if those weekends match a holiday.

Relocate on a weekend or in the week

The weekdays and the weekend have different pros and cons in terms of moving cost and moving convenience which we explain in this article.

Which is the Most Convenient Time to Move

If you have to consider another aspect of the move, your time, then the picture will be different. If you’re like most people then you have a regular full day 9 to 5 job which keeps you busy during the day except for the weekend and holidays. In case convenience is what matters to you and what you need, then get advantage of your own availability to organize your own move and take the time to do it when you have it. Besides, if you don’t want to hire moving labor and prefer calling on friends, neighbors or colleagues, then you will be needing helpers, who will most likely be available also when you are, i.e. that is during the weekend.

Hiring Movers During the Week or Weekend?

The best way to define what the price for your move will be depending on whether you choose to move in the week or during the weekend, is to get a quote.

Cost is always the main issue with every move, let’s admit it. It matter a lot what the price for your relocation will be and fortunately, there is a way to have control over this – by choosing when to move. The time matters because weekends is when most people take some time out of their homes and elevators are busier, staircases have more people on them, traffic jams are more, as they are during the hours of start and end of the working day, etc. This may seem like a minor detail to you but try to plan a move to a high rise, for example, and see for yourself. Lots of aspects should be considered in order to establish the best time to move. The time for your move matters not only to you, but to the movers as well since they could be affected by it, like traffic jams which could slow them down. The best thing would be to contact movers and discuss with them the various aspects of moving during the week or during the weekend. Explain to them your availability, your needs and ask them what you could expect as a difference in the price for the move depending on when you want to have it, if any at all. The good careful planning is essential because it is the one that will ensure the smooth moving day in the end, whether that day is on the week or on the weekend.

Getting a Quote for Your Move

In order to find out is it cheaper to move during the week or the weekend, get a quote from movers. Quotes are supposed to be free, as they are in TheMovingBlog.com but they are quite useful because you get an idea of approximately what your move is going to cost you and you can plan a budget according to your relocation requirements, and all that for free. It only takes a few seconds to fill in and that’s it – you have the information that you need sent to you almost right away. Quotes are often advised to take because of the convenience that they are. Movers will also put in the quote the price for the different services that they offer which will give you a better idea of which relocation company has better prices. So, take the time to establish which period is better for you for your move – the week or the weekend, and if you choose to consult a moving company, you will surely get help in taking the right decision.

When's the best time to moveMoving is a time- and cost-consuming initiative and for most people it is also quite stressful. One of the key features that will define how your move will go is the choice of time for moving. But what is the best time to move in a new house or apartment and how do we find out which is it? There are a few major for every person factors to take into consideration when taking such an important decision. Here is the comparison that you need to make in order to find out what is the best time to move out and into your new home.

What Is The Best Time To Move Out To A New Home?

Starting the moving day early is not the only thing to have in mind. There are a few major parameters according to which it is to be decided which is the best time for moving house.

Buying a Home

The warmer months are a great choice for shopping for a new home and checking out properties. In winter it is nice to stay at home, away from the cold weather. To a certain extend the same goes true for rental properties as well. It is convenient to look for a new home when spring comes, but this is what most people do anyway, so expect to face more competition for your dream home, more people bidding for it, and consequently paying a higher price for purchasing a property. On the other hand, the best time to move into a house or flat in terms of property prices is winter. But you may find less properties put up for sale and therefore less choice. But since fewer people look for a place to buy or rent when it is cold, this is your chance to negotiate lower rent or a lower property price.

Cost For The Move

In the summer when most people move the cost for the relocation could be higher. This is because the movers are busier and have more work to do. If you want to save on moving costs, moving during the fall and winter would be the best time for moving house. Since there’s less work for the moving companies, prices drop and could be reduced with up to 30%! Surely there could be exceptions from this rule but generally, when speaking about what the trend is, this is how things happen in the relocation industry.

When to relocate

March is a good time to start looking for a property if you want more choice, and a bad time, if you want to save money.

Options For Moving Dates

If you are moving in the peak season there will surely be less options for a choice for moving dates. However, if considering how much freedom you have in selecting your moving day, then the best time to move in a new home is in the autumn and the winter. If you are changing a job or you have a deadline to go after for any other reason, then the off peak season for moving is the best choice. This includes not only dates for moving a home, but also car moving options. In the colder months you are less likely to go on a weekend somewhere out which means you have more dates to choose between for your move.

The Cool Air Makes The Move Easier

Packing, loading, unloading, etc. require lots of effort and in the autumn and winter, when the temperatures outside are lower, the cold air consumes the extra energy from the moving men which helps them feel better and work more efficiently. Besides, when you heat up from carrying the boxes to the truck, some cool air may work fine also for you as well. In the summer everyone will sweat more which doesn’t feel very good as you know.

Possibilities For Incidents

In the cold weather, when the movers have more time, they will be less pressed by the clock, the chance for being late is lower, because they won’t be so busy. The roads have less congestion so there is a smaller chance that the movers could be late because of a traffic jam or because they had to stay up on another mover for a longer time. This is an opportunity that you can get advantage of during the colder time of the year.

More Dedicated Movers

On the overall, if you are wondering what is the best time to move into a new house or apartment, the colder months are better in terms of the movers’ dedication. Since they have less work and are not so busy, they are able to pay even more attention to your move and to every detail of it. A professional moving company that is reliable will be able to provide you with even more care for your relocation and the needs that you have. And isn’t that a nice thing!

Final Word of Advice

Whichever time you choose for moving, consider the advantages of getting movers to help you. They have experience and knowledge that’s come out of it, and they know tricks to help you move faster and easier. A moving partyMoving to a new area is a big excitement for you for sure and you are probably in the preparation of all the details. Besides the work you are supposed to do for your relocation, it is good to also consider throwing a moving party. It is going to be fun and interesting experience for you and your close ones, so take some time to organize such an event. Especially if you will be moving long distance and will not be seeing your friends and relatives often, surely everyone would appreciate a moving out party. When it comes to planning the details, you will need some assistance. Check out these great ideas which will help you make the most of your moving party.

How to Throw a Moving Party

Start Early

Surely your friends have their plans, so don’t wait until the last minute to let them know you’re planning to throw a moving party. Make your plans a few weeks in advance and ask your friends to confirm who’s coming – you need this info in order to plan the games, food, drinks, space that you will need, etc. You can prepare fun relocation party invitations and send them by post or with an e-mail. Your invitation should also include the theme of the party, so your friends can prepare – not everyone will have the time to go shopping for a special costume or accessories in the last minute. If you wait until the last minute to organize your relocation party, some may be busy or may not have the time to prepare, and consequently will not come. A week before the party send an e-mail to everyone invited with info about the party, reminding them to come because it will be fun!

Moving party food ideas

If you need moving party food ideas – why not order catering for an exquisite experience!

Choose a Theme!

But what could it be? It could be related to the occasion of the move like going to college or university, you could celebrate moving to a particular state – Texas, Hawaii, etc. and arrange the decoration and drinks in the proper manner. If you are moving to a state near Mexico, you can have a Mexican party. If you are a really big fan of a particular movie, you can use the occasion to ask your guests to wear fun costumes that relate to the movie (it could be a move about space and everyone can wear space costumes, you can ask your guests to be dressed as of a particular fairytale story, if you are a social dancer and you like Argentinian tango or salsa you can have milonga, a Latin party, swing party, pajama party, etc. – even if not everyone present is a dancer it may be fun for them to watch those who dance.) How about a pool party, beach party or posh party? Think about what would be mostly fun and interesting for your guests, something that most of them will enjoy, and set up one of those moving out party themes to have some good fun.

Do You Need Moving Help?

If you have a lot of work on your move, throwing a going away party could be a good idea to get some help. Not everyone will be excited to let their friends pack their t-shirts and socks, but you can choose what to ask help for. And if your relocation really is quite a lot of work for you and you don’t have much time, then asking your friends to help could be a good idea. But ask them in advance if they are available on your moving date! If so, you can organize a moving party and get the moving help you need. Have in mind that you better not serve alcohol before the work is really done because you risk your guests to get injured and items to be damaged, if handled by people under the influence of alcohol. Prepare coffee, light snacks, beverages and the packing supplies to get started. After the truck is loaded, you can have some cocktails, beer, wine, etc. You can order food after the work is done – ask your friends what they feel like (pizza, Chinese food, etc.)

Choosing moving party decorations

Think of fun moving party decorations that will help your guests keep up the good mood!

Get the Music Ready

The music should be in compliance with the theme of the party (related to the state/ country you are moving to, Hawaiian, etc.) or pick music that you and your friends will love, irrelevant of the party theme. Make sure you prepare the right sound equipment – if it is going to be a big event or you want to have it in an open space (your garden, back yard, etc.), your computer speakers won’t be sufficient. You could hire a DJ or if you have a friend who is a DJ you can ask him/ her to play some music.

Collect Memories!

Surely you have lots of good memories with your friends already, but since you are saying goodbye, some good moving party ideas would be to get a photographer to make photos of the event for you and for the guests. Or ask a friend to go around and take photos of you with everyone else. You can put someone by the door and when the guests are arriving and you welcome them to your home, you will have a photo together. You can prepare a book and ask everyone to write something there – it could be a poem, a story they will remember you with, they could wish you something there, even stick a photo! If you will have such a book, let your guests know in advance so they can prepare.

Take photos together

Make photos of you and your guests to collect some more good memories together!

Are the Games Ready?

There are lots of different games that you can choose from to make your going away party fun. Separate the guests in two teams and play a movies game – one team thinks of a title of a movie and tells it to someone from the other team, who has to make those from his team guess it by making drawing on paper. You can prepare decks of cards, draughts, dominos, twister, monopoly, and any other game you think will make your guests have fun and enjoy the party. You can have a karaoke night, too – there are lots of karaoke videos free online you can go for.

Get Help from Movers

If you’re on to preparing the party, but still haven’t selected a mover, you can get an estimate to check the possible costs for your move (it is free). Finding reliable movers is not always so easy. That is why check our database with lots of free tips, info, help, information, advice, etc. that will help you not just find the best moving company for you, but also organize your relocation better, easier and more efficiently. In the meantime, if you have enjoyed any of the ideas in this article, please share it, so others can get advantage, too!

Do you remember how you felt moving into your house? Did you catch eyes peeking through the blinds in the window across the street? Did you feel as though your neighbors were judging the outdated pattern on your old sofa as the movers brought it through the front door? If yes, then you know how those new neighbors are going to feel that just bought the house next door. Wouldn’t it be nice to make them feel welcomed, rather than on edge?

moving to a new neighborhood

Alternately, if you did have a neighbor who made a kind gesture right away, then you know how appreciated and wonderful it felt when a stranger confirmed that you really did pick the right house and the perfect neighborhood. Below are a few ideas that are thoughtful, and sure to start things off on the right foot.

Folder of Essentials

You can pick up a decorative folder in the school supply section at the store. Inside should be takeout menus of all the great local spots. You might even want to highlight a few options that are recommended. Also inside could be your personal “go-to” list for babysitters, grocery stores, farmers markets, 24-hour medical center, vet, parks, etc. This will definitely be a gift that will get put to good use.

Food

If you pride yourself on your baking skills then by all means, prepare, and take over a warm apple pie, chocolate chip cookies, or cupcakes. Of course, if it is summer and all the produce at the farmers market looks divine, a basket of fresh fruit and vegetables would be nice. You can even cut some veggies in snack size (since their knives are probably still packed!), and include a container of homemade dip or hummus.

Local Goodies

If you have a local winery or brewery, or if there is a shop downtown that makes all handmade soaps and candles then perhaps a local gift is the way to go. It will let them know just one of the many things they have to look forward to living here. Plus, they are sure to appreciate that you support local businesses.

Stuff for Kids

If you have children of your own then you may know how exhausting it can be to move and try to keep a child entertained. Sidewalk chalk, coloring books, and even homemade “Play-doh” could be just what they need the most right now to keep little ones entertained while they unpack. A few healthy snacks might be a good idea, too. Keep in mind some parents do not allow their children to eat chocolate and other sweets, and there are always peanut allergies to consider. Cutie clementines, a container of bite-size fruit (skip the strawberries, as they are another popular allergy), granola, etc., are great ideas.

Pet Items

A gift for their four-legged critter may be the fastest way to spark a friendship. A few new toys and perhaps some natural treats would be perfect. Do be mindful to avoid treats made in China, as thousands of dogs have become ill and even died over the past couple years from eating them, and they are starting to slowly be pulled from shelves. Of course, if you have a dog, you probably already know this!

Odds and Ends

There are countless other things you can give. A new welcome mat, coffee mug, gift certificate to the corner café, keychain of the local sports team, watering can with fresh cut flowers, a plant, and reusable grocery or produce bags are all great ideas.

Tips for moving heavy items

The key to a successful move when moving something heavy is to use your brain rather than your muscles. The first thing that you should do is to ensure that all heavy items can fit through openings and around corners of your home. If you think that some item is too big to fit through some door, then you should disassemble that particular item to avoid any scratches on your door or the floor (especially if it is a hardwood floor).

Then think carefully how you can move the heavy items with the least strain. Once you decide on a strategy, call some friends to help you with the move. The most important thing is to be patient, don’t rush to finish in an hour, move your items carefully. That way you will be able to prevent injuries  both to you and your belongings. If necessary, find more helpers.

Packing Heavy Items before Moving

When you are moving heavy items you should always try to make your items lighter by removing all of its contents. It’s just silly to move your bureau when there are numerous books in it. Make sure you remove all the inside shelves if you are moving a heavy entertainment center or a big dresser. That way you will make it liter and you will prevent damages that might occur once you rotate the furniture around to fit the doors. Be careful with the heavy items like fridges, oven, cupboards, etc. when packing a kitchen – there a lot of them in this room so you may need to pay special attention to it.

Packing heavy items before moving is essential especially if you are moving wooden furniture. That way you will preserve the furniture from scratching and also you will prevent damages and stains to the walls. Use furniture pads or blankets and tape them around the piece of furniture. Make sure the blankets are carefully taped so the furniture piece is easy to grab and move.

Some Effective Tips for Moving Heavy Items

Remember, pushing is a lot easier and more effective than pulling. So if some item is too heavy to be lifted, then you and your moving helpers should push that item, not pull it. Don’t forget however that when pushing something across the floor you should put old newspapers or blankets under it. You don’t want to damage your floor. To move a heavy item, like a refrigerator, you should get behind it, lean it towards you, and then you could walk it slowly from side to side.

Moving Heavy Furniture

To move your couch or anything else with legs, you should lay it on its back or side and slide it as much as you can. Sometimes you should remove the legs if possible to make it fit the doors. Some heavy furniture like large armorers and really big couches may have to go through the windows if the don’t fit the doors. Make sure you have plenty of rope for situations like that.

easy way to move heavy furniture

Heavy kitchen items, such as fridge freezers, dishwashers and washing machines, will slide much easier on the vinyl floor if you spray a little washing-up liquid on the floor first.

Moving Heavy Items Through the Stairs

To get some heavy items down the stairs, you can use two boards as a ramp. Make sure there are at least two friends to help you if you decide to so that. Another option is to lay the object on a quilt or heavy blanket; control the descent with your shoulder as you back down, lifting the leading edge of the ‘skid’ slightly with both hands.

Moving Plasma or Big LCD TVs

Get enough blankets and/or furniture pads, which can be purchased from a moving company or truck rental agency, to cover and protect the TV set entirety. If you have the original box of your TV, it is best to use it for the move, if not, cover your TV with furniture pad and wrap the TV very carefully. Do not move your TV by yourself. Some plasma TV’s are very large but not that heavy and you may think that you can be able to handle the moving job all by yourself. Call a friend to help you, it would be much easier for you and safer for the TV.

That’s it for now. Stay tuned for more helpful moving tips on TheMovingBlog.com

What to do when moving.

What to do when moving.

Here at The Moving Blog, we have numerous articles about the things we should do when moving. Now almost everyone knows the regular moving tips: Always research the mover, read moving reviews for your moving company, always hire a mover that is fully licensed and insured etc. But we often forget to do a couple of simple things that will make our move a lot more stress free. To help with your future move, we are going to define a couple of important moving tips we need to do, but we often forget to.

  • Prepare a backpack. Put the things that you will use during the move in a backpack. It’s not enough just to put them in your luggage. There are important things that you need to access fast when you are in a hurry. A first aid kit, all necessary documents, two bottles of water and clothing should be put together in one place in your backpack, not separated in a couple of different cases.
  • Gather all of your records together. Your medical, dental, yours and your children’s school records are very important. You need to make sure you got all at one place. Some schools accept only original documents, so copies will not do. Try to find all of your original records and gather them at one place. God forbid something happens to you before you find a new family doctor. But if you have your medical records on hand can alleviate this problem.
  • Old phone books. Don’t forget to take all of your phone books with you. There is a great chance to loose them if you pack them with the move itself in one of the many moving boxes.
  • Dry cleaning. Remember to pick up your dry cleaning. Also if you have left something for repair you need to pick it up before the move.
  • Garage doors. It is something that we often forget when moving.  Get the garage door opener key or card out of your car.
  • Bank accounts. If you are moving out of town or out of state, you need to set up a bank account ahead of time. Some banks put a hold on out of town checks and that is always a problem when you need to pay bills at your new place. Also some merchants won’t accept your out of town checks.

Being prepared and organized during your move is very important. Did we miss something important? Let us know in the comments and we will include your ideas in the post.

Professional Cleaning Services

After the movers load all of your stuff on the moving van, usually what is left is a mess and has to be cleaned in order to take your security deposit, in case you are a tenant, or to sell your house. As usual, a clean and tidied house costs more than a dirty one, so if you want to get more money and make your house easier to sell, you have to leave your house or apartment spotless. Of course, it’s quite a tedious and annoying housework, but it has to be done. So, while organizing your moving, take into consideration the cleaning job. It may seem you as an easy task, but it is at least a time consuming  one.

This time we are providing you with helpful tips about cleaning after you move out. As we already agreed cleaning takes a lot of time, so make sure you have plenty of it.

Cleaning after movers by yourself

Here is a list of steps that will ease your cleaning job in case you decide to clear up the mess by yourself.

  1. After movers load all of your belongings, throw away all the rubbish. There will be leftovers of packing materials for example, or other stuff that has to be cleared. Get rid of all that rubbish before start cleaning.
  2. Buy the proper cleaning detergents. These days the market offer many different cleaning agents – from the all-purpose (abrasive and non-abrasive) cleaning products to the bleach and the disinfectants. Buy only high quality products, otherwise you are risking to spend your money without achieving the desired results. Of course, money matters, but don’t go for the cheapest, ask for recommendations friends, colleagues, or even the sales representative.
  3. Start with wardrobes, drawers, kitchen appliance etc. After you have equipped yourself with the right cleaning products, start with the furniture (if you have left any). Clear up every household item with the suitable cleaning product. For example, kitchen appliances requires cleaning agents that remove greasy stains and dirt, while bathtubs and sinks need cleaning products that cope with mold and chalk.  All items have to be left spotless. Do not forget to vacuum the carpets and wash the curtains and the drapes. These are usually forgotten. Clean everything room by room. Do not just clean randomly from to room. This way you will waste much time.
  4. Next, clean all the floors, walls, windows and doors. Again, use the proper detergents. Leave everything stainless, safe trouble with your householder. Polish everything to the very best. Bear in mind that if you have any wood floors, you have to use wood-friendly cleaning product. Otherwise, severe damages may occur.
  5. Take care for the outdoor area. If you have yard or small garden, leave it in good condition. Throw away the garbage. You may consider to sweep away any leaves or other junk.

 Choosing Professional Cleaning Services

If you don’t have enough time to do the cleaning by yourself, you may consider hiring a professional cleaning company. Using professional cleaning services has its pros and cons. You have to pay a cleaning company after you have already spend pretty money on booking your movers, but you will save a lot of time. Cleaning companies offer cleaning services such as domestic cleaning and office cleaning services,  and even specific services to meet some particular requirements – like the after builders cleaning services. A professional cleaning company will clear up the mess in no time. Everything will be stainless and polished perfectly.

How to find a reliable cleaning company

Choosing a reliable cleaning company that you can trust is quite a job. Here are some tips that will make it easier for you to find a professional cleaning company.

  • Make a list of 5-6 different cleaning companies. Search in Google, or ask friends and colleagues to recommend you.
  • It’s a good idea to run a check at the BBB (Better Business Bureau) website. Since BBB has quite high standards to accredit businesses, find out if your potential cleaning company has a good reputation.
  • Also, search for cleaning related forums and blogs. Read some customer reviews for these companies and select 2-3 companies. The more reviews you read, the better chances for hiring a good cleaning company you have.
  • Call the cleaning companies and ask for a cleaning quote. Compare the quotes and make your choice. Be careful and do go for the cheapest one. You may be dealing with unprofessional and rogue cleaning company, or there might be hidden charges. So, be reasonable when choosing cleaning services.
  • Arrange the payment in advance. Make it all clear. Ask the particular company about rates. Some moving companies prefer to be paid by hour, and others offer per-room rates.

Choosing professional cleaning services might save you a lot of time and troubles. As cleaning for these companies is an everyday job, they can handle the job faster and better. Remember, by all means book a licensed and insured cleaning company.

Student moving

You are a student and you have to move, but you don’t have enough time. You have your finals coming and you are already quite stressed. We offer you some key tips to pay attention at.  These will help you to cope with the annoying job much faster.

Student moving has its own unique specifics. If you are moving for the summer, you definitely need to find a summer storage facility for your belongings. This can be a bit stressful when you are rushed to do a couple of things at once. So you need to be well organized and prepared.

Here are some tips that will help you with your student move.

1. Use a moving checklist. Making a checklist will help you to organize your time better. When you are running on a tight schedule it is very important not to miss anything.
Make yourself a checklist in which you describe in details everything that needs to be done before, and after, your move. Put a time frame for every single job and then follow it precisely.

2. Leave any unnecessary items. Avoid moving anything that you don’t really need. Give items you don’t need to a friend or sell them, but avoid moving them if they are useless. Probably if you don’t need them now, you most likely won’t use them later either. Plus, if you have some old clothes or books you can give them to charity. This way you will save a lot of your valuable time and most importantly, you will do something good.

3. Get some help from you friends. Your move will be a lot faster and easier if your friends help you with the packing. Ask some close friends and colleagues if they give you hand. Your moving may turn into a pleasant teamwork.  The more help you get, the better results you will achieve.

4. Packing Supplies. Get proper packing supplies from your mover. Most of the movers offer packing supplies at additional cost, but get the proper packing supplies. Yes, it will cost extra, but you will have the proper boxes and supplies and you will save a lot of time and further troubles. Take good care of all your belongings. The most important is to transport them safely.

5. Pack your belongings room by room. Room by room. Pack on a room-by-room basis will eliminate a confusion and save a lot of time when you’re unpacking. When you have to pack yourself everything packing room by room will significantly ease the whole job. Start with belongings that you use rarely and leave the most often used items for last.

6. Use the A-B-C system.  You don’t need to unpack everything right away after you have moved, so it’s a good idea to use the a-b-c system to label your moving boxes. Simply write “a” on the boxes that you need to unpack immediately after you’ve moved and “c” on the boxes that can wait. Using that simple system will help you to unpack much quickly after you have moved to your new apartment or house.

7.Label you boxes carefully.  It’s essential to label all of your boxes the right way. Be sure to write on each box what exactly you have put in it. It will be quite hard for you to find out everything when you have 50 boxes that look like pretty much the same. Felt pens are superb solution for labeling boxes. Write information such as their contents, destination room, fragile or this side up. It is a good idea to make a master list, so you’ll know what is in each box.

8. Start packing early. Of course the best way to avoid problems and stress is to start packing early. Moving is a very stressful time, so start packing two or three weeks earlier if you can.

Think over your plan again.  Before you start packing revise your plan with everyone who is involved. This will help with your packing and will ensure that things will run smoothly.
